Allowing Members to Present...
What exactly does a member have to do to present to the group?
Have been asking for a speaking slot for almost a year-and-a-half! Instead, with an occasional INETA speaker thrown in here and there, we appear to see the same small circle of local people presenting over and over.
If DDNUG is truly a “community,” then how can we open up the podium to others?

Re: Allowing Members to Present...
I would like to know this as well.  We have the same problem with the Sharepoint user group.  We are slowly trying to get things to change.

Re: Allowing Members to Present...
Think that there is good intent among the DDNUG Leadership, but, in essence, they have "locked up" the presentation opportunities for group members.

Interestingly, at the recent Code Camp in Dallas, I ran into at least 4 people that I no longer see at the monthly DDNUG meetings.  Each told me that they no longer attend because the group has grown "stale" -- same people presenting over and over and over and over.

Not sure how you fix it, but do you think a good start would be for DDNUG leadership to respond to these messages?

Probably something else would be to post in here what you planned to speak on.  For instance if your chosen topic was the intricacies of basket weaving I for one would understand the lack of interest.  If it was something more compelling then maybe the amount of users who are interested would make for a better instrument of change.

Re: Allowing Members to Present...

Want to apologize for the previous post, concerning presenting to DDNUG organization.

In a nutshell, I had a disconnect with DDNUG Leadership and went on a RANT, which in retrospect, was the WRONG THING FOR ME TO DO.

Since, have talked with DDNUG leadership and corrected the situation.

The DDNUG leadership is very much approachable and open to feedback, which is the route I should have taken.

Again, my apologies for RANTING on the web site and not talking directly with them.

Let me give my thanks to the hard work that these guys do for the .NET community.
